Understanding wireless networks:
The 2.4G and 5G mentioned here actually refer to the Wi-Fi signal bands emitted by our routers, which correspond to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, respectively. All of our wireless devices are based on these two bands of Wi-Fi signal for data transmission.
The 2.4GHz band has been established for use since the first generation Wi-Fi standard, so all routers, wireless network devices (such as smart appliances, smart lights, surveillance cameras, etc.) in our daily lives support and use the 2.4GHz band for wireless transmission. We can refer to these devices as 2.4G Wi-Fi devices. The penetration and coverage of 2.4GHz will be stronger and wider than that of 5G Wi-Fi.
5G Wi-Fi refers to a wireless network that operates on the 5GHz band and uses the fifth-generation Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac (Wi-Fi version: Wi-Fi 5) or higher. It can be called 5G Wi-Fi. Its theoretical minimum rate is 1Gbps, which is about 128MB/second.
The difference between 2.4G Wi-Fi and 5G Wi-Fi:
Because the 5G Wi-Fi band is higher than the 2.4G Wi-Fi band, the 5G Wi-Fi signal emitted based on the 5GHz band will weaken faster than the 2.4G Wi-Fi signal, so its transmission distance will be shorter and its coverage will be narrower than that of the latter.
The difference between 5G Wi-Fi and 5G network:
5G network refers to the fifth-generation mobile communication network standard, which is a different type of network transmission standard for mobile devices, and is not related to Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is a wireless local area network technology that connects devices to the Internet, while 5G is a mobile communication technology that connects devices to the cellular network. Therefore, 5G Wi-Fi and 5G network are two different things.
